In this, gram has been sown in 78.52 lakh hectares and lentils in 13.45 lakh hectares. Sowing of coarse cereals also increased from 24.67 lakh hectares to 28.24 lakh hectares, of which jowar has been sown in 17.43 lakh hectares and maize in 6.87 lakh hectares. However, sowing of oilseeds has declined to 80.55 lakh hectares as compared to last year's 84.85 lakh hectares. The area under rapeseed-mustard has decreased from earlier 84.85 lakh hectares to 75.86 lakh hectares, while the area under groundnut has decreased from earlier 2.11 lakh hectares to 1.97 lakh hectares.
