Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh advocated inclusion of artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain technology in the curriculum of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). Addressing the joint convocation of four NIFT campuses here, the Textiles Minister said that the country is moving towards becoming a 'developed India' and the new graduates coming out of NIFT will have to become job creators rather than job seekers in the next four to five years. At the event, Singh stressed the imperative need to include AI and blockchain technology in the curriculum of all 19 NIFTs, an official statement issued by the textiles ministry said. NIFT held the convocation ceremony for its 2023-24 graduating batch at Bharat Mandapam. Students from four NIFT campuses – Delhi, Rae Bareli, Kangra and Panchkula attended the joint convocation. More than 80 per cent of NIFT students graduating in 2024 have already got jobs during the course with a top package of Rs 18 lakh, the statement said.
