Girish Wagh, executive director of Tata Motors, said that the company is preparing for both the technologies hydrogen internal combustion engine and fuel cell electric vehicle.

He said that trucks with hydrogen internal combustion engines will start appearing on the roads from this quarter. It will be run on three routes Mumbai-Pune, Jamshedpur-Kalinganagar and Mumbai-Ahmedabad. Wagh told PTI that the experience gained at the initial stage will be used to improve the product as well as improve the infrastructure for hydrogen fuel.

He said this on Friday on the sidelines of 'India Mobility Global Expo' 2025 in the national capital. “We already have 15 electric fuel cell buses which are being operated in collaboration with IOCL (Indian Oil Corporation Limited) for more than 10 months,” Vadya said. A lot of work is happening across the value chain regarding the use of hydrogen as a fuel.
