Under this, the regulator has offered free software applications and other materials on its investor website and 'Sarthi' app as part of its investor education initiative. It aims to empower both potential and existing investors. These platforms help investors to take informed investment decisions by getting information about things.
“As part of its responsibility to protect the interests of investors in the securities market, the regulator has launched tools (software applications) on the official investor website to enhance investor awareness and education,” the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) said in a statement. These tools and materials are aimed at helping both potential and existing investors in their investment journey, it said. The SEBI investor website has a repository of videos from stock exchanges, depositories and institutions such as the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) and National Center for Financial Education (NCFE).
Steps such as 'Spot a Scam' enable users to evaluate the validity of investment offers. While the Financial Health Checkup tool provides an assessment of personal financial condition and also gives suggestions on how to improve it. Additionally, 24 financial 'calculators' designed to assist in investment planning and decision making are also available on the regulator's website. The Sarathi App complements the website by providing access to key investment topics, grievance redressal mechanism and online dispute resolution platform.
