New Delhi. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal called for promoting sustainable patterns of consumption to reduce carbon emissions and address environmental issues. He said that people around the world need to focus on consuming environmentally sustainable products. Goyal said, “We need to be conscious about the waste and carbon emissions caused by our current lifestyle. This will be the basis for a better future for the world. Unless we focus on consumption patterns, we will not be able to address issues of sustainability and environmental challenges.”
The minister said this at the partnership summit of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) here. He said that the root cause of environmental problems is not the carbon emissions from manufacturing but “it is more the carbon generated from (our) consumption because manufacturing happens only because of the demand for consumption.” Goyal called for better and sustainable consumption. Suggested ways to manage it. Israel's Economy and Industry Minister M.K. Nir Barkat said that trade and economic relations between the two countries are increasing. He said the corridor extended from India to Europe via UAE and Israel will help in further strengthening economic ties.
