New Delhi. The Ministry of Labor and Employment said that it has urged gig and forum workers to register on the e -ram portal. The ministry said that by doing this, they will get formal recognition and they will be able to get the benefits of Ayushman Bharat Scheme. The Labor Minister said in a statement that the gig and stage economy is expanding. Under this, new jobs are being provided in areas such as rental taxi service, goods supply, logistics and professional services. NITI Aayog estimates that the Gig economy in India will provide employment to more than one crore workers in 2024-25. After this, this figure will reach 2.35 crores by 2029-30.
Recognizing the contribution of gig and stage workers in the country's economy, the general budget 2025-26 has announced the registration of online forum workers on the e -ram portal, issuing identity cards and providing health services under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY). The Ministry of Labor and Employment will soon launch the scheme to implement these budget provisions. The statement said that as the first step, the Ministry has requested the forum workers to register themselves on the e -ram portal, so that they can be given benefits under the scheme as soon as possible.
