New Delhi. Union Minister Piyush Goyal said several important initiatives will be taken up this year to significantly transform the urban landscape of his Lok Sabha constituency. The minister said that these initiatives include expediting major projects like redevelopment of slums and expansion of roads and railway lines. Goyal had won his first Lok Sabha election from North Mumbai last year. The minister said that on January 4, he would meet the heads of all concerned departments in Mumbai to review the progress of the pending projects.
He said that in that meeting, a report will be presented on the steps taken so far and a time bound action plan will be prepared for the pending issues. “We have many big plans for our constituency this year,” Goyal told PTI. We are seeing how quickly we can provide permanent houses to the people living in slums on the spot. This is a project that is ongoing. We are also expediting all works related to roads and other infrastructure to make life easier.”
He said work would soon begin on all four railway stations in his constituency, including Kandivali, which is part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS). The objective of this initiative is to continuously develop the station with a long-term vision. He said the Center had also announced the Harbor Line extension till Borivali last year. This will provide great relief to passengers traveling between Navi Mumbai and North Mumbai. The minister said he was looking at ways to promote tourism in the region because “on one side we have the Sanjay Gandhi National Park and on the other side we have the beautiful sea.”
