The BNP is holding an extended meeting on Thursday after seven years. The party has completed all preparations to make the meeting of the LD Hall premises of the National Assembly building.
This extended meeting will be held at two sessions till 7am and at night. BNP sources said the party's plan, including the preparations for the next thirteenth parliamentary elections, will be of the most important importance in the meeting.
Earlier on February 7, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia convened the party's extended meeting at the Lo Meridien Hotel in the capital. After the meeting, he was sent to jail after the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case on February 7.
Sources in the party say the BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman will preside over the extended meeting today. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will present the organizational report at the extended meeting. The meeting has been called to take an opinion on what will be the party's work plan till the next parliamentary elections. It is believed that the position, popularity and the leaders and activists of the parliamentary area concerned through the speech of the grassroots leaders are expected to come up.
The BNP standing committee meeting was held on Monday regarding the extended meeting. At the extended meeting there, it was decided to give special importance to the grassroots.
District-Mahanagar, Upazila-Thana and Municipal BNP president-conveners and general secretary-secretary secretaries will address the meeting.
At the beginning of the meeting, the documentary titled 'First Bangladesh Our Last Bangladesh' will be displayed. On the occasion of the meeting, we have published a magazine called 'confidence'. After the speech of Tareq Rahman in the morning, the session will begin after noon, where the grassroots leaders will address. Later, Tareq Rahman will address the conclusion.
In the context of the extended meeting, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said the new message will come based on the demands of the leaders.
According to sources in the central office of the BNP, those who were candidates in the parliamentary elections and did not get the final nomination despite the party's initial nomination, that is, but did not get the candidate, but they received the 'secondary' paper for the nomination, they will also be in the extended meeting. Besides, the National Standing Committee of the BNP, the National Executive Committee, the Advisory Council of the Chairperson and the Chairman of the District Committee, General Secretary or Convener, Member Secretary; The president, general secretary or convener and members of the Thana-upazila-Paour Committee will attend the extended meeting. The central president and general secretary of the BNP will also be the central president of the BNP and allied organizations. In all, about 3,000 leaders from all over the country will participate in the extended meeting.
