We do not do politics for power: BNP leader Shimul Biswas

Shamchur Rahman Shimul Biswas, special assistant to BNP chairperson and chief coordinator of the Labor Party, said, 'The country has become fascist-free as the entire nation is united. This unity must be maintained at any cost.'

He said this at a discussion meeting titled 'Our Liberation and Inspiration' on the occasion of the historic November 7 National Revolution and Solidarity Day at Sagar-Rooney Auditorium of Dhaka Reporters Unity on Tuesday. The meeting was organized by the Inter-University Nationalist Employees Federation.

Shimul Biswas said, 'No superpower can suppress a united nation and can't stop the national progress. After the independence war of 1971, hegemonic allies conspired to destabilize the country by trampling the desire for independence. Today, even after the July and August mass uprisings of the students, that circle is doing the same conspiracy. Conspiracy to thwart the desire of the students-workers-masses for a mass uprising. So for the sake of the country, for the sake of future generations, everyone should be united. Fallen fascisms and their minions are setting various traps. That trap cannot be stepped under any circumstances.'

This BNP leader said, 'We don't do politics for power. BNP does politics for people's rights. I protested on the streets for freedom of speech. Struggled to establish the right to vote. And if the people elect BNP, then they will run the state with everyone and with the advice of all political parties. Everyone has to work unitedly to make the country a self-reliant nation. BNP is committed to build a modern Bangladesh by ending all forms of misrule and discrimination.'

BNP's Comilla divisional co-organizing secretary and teachers' staff union president Salim Bhuiyan said in the discussion meeting that Awami League destroyed the constitutional institutions by destroying the constitution. Fascist Sheikh Hasina turned all state institutions into her party's hangout.

Urging the interim government to talk to the political parties and give a speedy election roadmap, he said, 'Our demand to the interim government is that they organize a free, fair and impartial election.' He also urged not to delay the announcement of the election roadmap under any pretext.

Under the chairmanship of Hasanuzzaman, moderated by Firozul Islam, the chief speaker was the president of the Labor Party, Anwar Hossain. Labor party campaign secretary Manjurul Islam Manju, labor and employee leaders Ruhul Amin, Abu Saeed, Ferozul Islam, Jewel Mohammad Billal and others also spoke.
