On the occasion of Martyr Noor Hossain Day, various organizations including several left parties paid tribute by flowers at Noor Hossain square at zero point of the capital.
Tributes were paid under the banners of various Left parties on Sunday (November 10) morning.
The organizations paying tribute at Noor Hossain Square are- Bangladesh Student Union, Samajtantrik Chhatra Front, Bangladesh Student Federation, Mass Solidarity Movement, Democracy Manch, Revolutionary Workers Party, Bangladesh Youth Union, Left Democratic Alliance, Basad, Communist Party of Bangladesh, Democratic Student Alliance, Student Forum, Basad (Marxist), Jatiya Gano Front, Nagorika Oikya, Bangladesh Workers' Federation, Jatiya Gano Front.
Meanwhile, they started shouting slogans like 'Demolish Awami League's hideout, crush it', 'We want the execution of the murderer Hasina for the crime of disappearance and murder'.
Earlier, the leaders and activists of various political parties, including the anti-discrimination student movement, took control of the zero point of the capital around the Shaheed Noor Hussain Day from Saturday (November 9) night. They announced to resist the program of Awami League. They held several protest marches at night. At this time they chanted different slogans like 'Why are the murderers outside, why are they in the grave', 'Noor Hossain is calling, let the murderer Sheikh Hasina die'.
Meanwhile, since Sunday morning, the leaders and workers of BNP and other organizations were seen chanting different slogans in front of the Awami League office on Bangabandhu Avenue. A few people were beaten on suspicion of Awami League. Later they were handed over to Paltan police.
Members of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) were seen patrolling in front of the Awami League office in the morning to avoid conflict. The police also took a cautious position there. Traffic is almost closed in this area. Traffic police is working to continue traffic through other roads to avoid public inconvenience.
In this regard, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Media and Public Relations Department of DMP. Talebur Rahman said that extra security measures have been strengthened so that no one can cause chaos on the occasion of Noor Hossain Day.
Incidentally, in the anti-Ershad movement, Noor Hossain marched in the streets on November 10, 1987, writing slogans on his chest and back, 'Despotism will die, democracy will be freed.' He died in police firing that day. On the occasion of Noor Hossain Day, Awami League called for a protest march at Zero Point on Saturday (November 9). After the party announced this program by posting on its own Facebook, the anti-discrimination student movement launched a program to counter it.
