The National Party informed the Commonwealth that it would drop out of the dialogue


A delegation of BNP held a meeting with Prime Minister of Bhutan Tshering Tobagh who is visiting Bangladesh. The meeting was held at Hotel Intercontinental in the capital on Sunday (November 23) night. The BNP delegation was led by the party’s general secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

After the meeting, Mirza Fakhrul told reporters that Bhutan expects a fair and impartial election in Bangladesh. He said that whichever government comes to power, the country will work with that government.

The BNP Secretary General said that apart from the political situation of the country, several issues related to bilateral interests took place in their discussion. He also said that Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobagy has inquired about the health of party chairperson Khaleda Zia. Apart from this, various issues related to the interests of the two countries, including trade and energy, were discussed.

Bhutanese Prime Minister Khaleda presented a bouquet of flowers to Zia. BNP media cell member Shayrul Kabir Khan said that BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir took the flower bouquet to the hospital and gave it to Khaleda Zia.
