People's fortunes will change – BNP wants such reforms, said acting chairman of the party Tariq Rahman. He made this comment in the speech of the chief guest in a seminar at Lakeshore Hotel in Gulshan of the capital on Thursday.
BNP organized this seminar titled 'State Structure Repair Outline: Reforms in the Light of 31 Points'. Tariq Rahman said, 'Currently, almost all reform proposals discussed in the country are included in our 31 points. I understand the purpose of reforms to be reforms that will change not a few sentences of the constitution, but the destiny of the people. That is, a person's income will be arranged, his and his family's socio-economic security and savings will be ensured. I mean by reforms that will solve the problem of unemployment of every man and woman through employment. Reforms that will ensure respect, freedom and empowerment of women.'
Tariq Rahman said, 'The reforms will ensure the safety of all people's lives, the reforms will form modern education and moral values of the country's children, the reforms will give people the desired health care, the reforms will stabilize the prices of daily necessities in the market, which will benefit farmers, workers and all working people. Will ensure fair and decent wages—that's what I mean by reform.'
Promising to introduce a bicameral parliamentary system, Tariq Rahman said, 'To ensure that the dictatorial system does not repeat itself in Bangladesh, the BNP wants to put such a provision in the constitution that no one can be prime minister more than twice in a row. We want balance of power between legislative, judicial and executive branches. I want to introduce a bicameral parliamentary system to ensure the representation and participation of the intellectuals of the society in the management of the state.
The Acting Chairman of BNP said, 'Our aim is to provide employment for the youth and the unemployed, and to introduce unemployment benefits according to merit until employment. We want to ensure women's participation at all levels, grassroots empowerment and implementation of the historic canal cutting program once again. We want to bring contemporary radical changes in all fields of health, education, agriculture, energy, climate and economy. To create skilled human resources; Export-oriented industries and expatriate remittances increase; A merit-based state system was established.
Tariq Rahman said, 'Decentralization of power, universal health care, fair prices for farmers and producers, demand-based education and multi-lingual training, multi-modal communication system and phased housing facilities and social security for all, irrespective of religion-caste-tribe-group-plains-hills. I think it is a consensus vision to build a modern Bangladesh of balance and equal rights.'
The announced 31 points have the opportunity to be added or removed – the Acting Chairman of BNP said, 'The 31 points can be added, removed, rearranged or changed to adapt to the environment, situation, needs of the country and the needs of the people. With time, these 31 points will one day open the door to achieve our long-term goal of a happy and self-reliant Bangladesh.'
