Tareq Rahman was released in Jessore sedition case


BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman was acquitted in the sedition case in Jessore. Judge Sheikh Nazmul Alam of the District and Sessions Judge Court issued the order on Monday afternoon.

The court government prosecutor (PP) and district BNP president Syed Saberul Haque Sabu confirmed the information to today's newspaper.

PP Saberul Haque said Jessore District Awami League Organizing Secretary SM Afzal Hossain filed a case against Tarique Rahman on January 22. It is mentioned in the case that Tareq Rahman made hatred, hatred, contempt and ugly statement against Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, which includes treason. The police submitted the charge sheet against Tarique Rahman on April 27 of that year after the police investigation of the Jessore Kotwali police station.

Saberul Haque said the judge released Tarique Rahman today as the allegations were not proved in the case.
