Awami League President Sheikh Hasina protested the murder of Chittagong lawyer Saiful Islam Alif. He thinks beating the lawyer to death is militant behavior.
The Awami League president said these things in a statement given today on Thursday. Which is posted on verified Facebook page of Awami League.
Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari was taken to the Chittagong court last Tuesday after being arrested in a sedition case. At that time, the court rejected his bail and ordered him to be sent to prison. Chinmoy's angry followers blocked the prison van for nearly three hours while he was being taken to jail. When the police tried to disperse, there was a clash with them.
During the clash, a group of miscreants hacked to death the lawyer of the state, Saiful Islam Alif, in the Rangam Tower area at the entrance of the court area. Awami League president Sheikh Hasina made a protest statement two days after the incident.
Demanding punishment for those involved in the murder, he said that those involved in this murder should be found and punished quickly. Human rights have been grossly violated through this incident. A lawyer had gone to perform his professional duties, and to beat him to death in this manner is a form of militant behavior. Those who have done this are terrorists and militants. Whoever they are must be punished.
Referring to the interim government as a usurper, the former prime minister said, “If the Yunus government, which has seized power unconstitutionally, fails to punish these terrorists, then it will also face punishment for human rights violations.”
Calling upon the countrymen to stand united against terrorism and militancy, Sheikh Hasina said, 'It is important to ensure the safety of the lives and property of the common people.'
Claiming that the interim government is showing failure in all areas, the Awami League president said that it has failed to control the prices of daily necessities and also failed to provide security to people's lives. I strongly condemn all these direct and indirect tortures on common people.
Claiming that Chinmay Krishna Das Brahmachari has been unjustly arrested, Sheikh Hasina said that a top leader of the Sanatan religious community has been unjustly arrested, he should be released immediately. A temple has been burnt in Chittagong. Earlier, mosques, shrines, churches, monasteries and houses of the Ahmadiyya community were attacked, vandalized and looted and set on fire. Religious freedom of all communities and security of life and property must be ensured.
The former Prime Minister said, 'After the killing of countless Awami League leaders and workers, students and members of law and order forces, harassment is going on through attacks and arrests. I strongly condemn and protest against these anarchist activities.'
