Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Senior Joint Secretary General of BNP, said that the authoritarian government monopolized the law, judiciary and administration to assert its authority. Sheikh Hasina made a new appearance.
He said these things during an exchange of views with former army officers at Nayapaltan central office on Saturday (November 2) at noon.
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, on one hand we have to protect independence and sovereignty, on the other hand we have to ensure multi-party democracy – we have to move forward keeping these two in front. The border is being killed every day.
He said, Sheikh Hasina was so knee-jerk, she did not dare to protest even though the border was bloody. Those who spoke up for the democracy of their country were placed in the mirror or spent years in prison.
During the rule of dictatorship, many judges spoke like politicians, this senior joint secretary general of BNP said, listening to the words of former judge Shamsuddin Manik, one could not understand whether he was a presidium member of Awami League or a judge of the Supreme Court. We did not see any difference between them.
Rizvi said, the independence of judiciary must be ensured. In order to strengthen democracy, the rule of law is the essential condition for the rule of law and the independence of the judiciary. The last refuge of the people is the judiciary.
