Senior vice-president of the People's Rights Council Farooq Hasan has expressed his anger by claiming that he did not get justice after being attacked in the central Shaheed Minar of the capital. He said, 'The drama about this incident, the silence of the law enforcement agencies and the smell of their multi-faceted conspiracy we have been seeing for the last few days; We are forced to say that the culture of Awami League, and the current Dr. Where is the difference between the culture of the government of Muhammad Yunus?'
He spoke at a press conference at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) hospital premises on Friday (January 10). General Secretary of the People's Rights Council. Leaders and activists of various levels of the party including Rashed Khan were present.
Incidentally, in the afternoon of last Saturday (January 4) at the central Shaheed Minar, the senior vice-president of the People's Rights Council, Farooq Hasan, was attacked in the civic gathering organized by the National Revolutionary Council. A group of people present at the meeting attacked him for his speech criticizing the interim government. Later, he was taken to Dhaka Medical College (Dhamek) hospital. Later, he was taken to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) hospital from there. He is under treatment there.
Referring to that day, Farooq Hasan said in the press conference that after the surprise attack on me at Shaheed Minar on January 4, after this attack, pictures and videos of the attackers were circulated on social media and mass media. It is the legal responsibility of the law enforcement agencies to identify and arrest the assailants. We are deeply saddened and ashamed.
“During Sheikh Hasina's regime, the leaders and activists of the People's Rights Council were attacked 21 times,” he said, “We did not get justice for even one attack during Sheikh Hasina's tenure.” But in post-revolution independent Bangladesh, we don't even worry that we will be attacked again. Yet such an attack has been made on me, this attack will be judged very quickly; This is what we expected.'
He said, '2000 students gave their lives in the recent agitation not because you will break Farooq Hasan's legs. In order to kill him, cut his forehead with a knife and make a 2 inch wound. It is not because of this that millions of students are groaning in hospital beds. Under our pressure, two attackers were arrested. Today we condemn how this attacker got bail in just 6 hours.'
Highlighting the Awami League period, he said that people were bailed from the court after being arrested. We have seen the same incidents during Hasina's tenure. Chhatra League terrorists used to attack us. Then they came to the press briefing and said that they themselves were injured by the push. Even then, if one or two people were arrested for showing off, they would enter through one side and exit through the other with garlands around their necks. Similarly, my assailants came out of the court with garlands around their necks. After arrival they are bathed with milk. I don't think there is any more disgusting, shameful incident in this post-revolutionary Bangladesh. I do not know Dr. Muhammad Yunus sir is ashamed, we are ashamed.
Farooq Hasan said regretfully, 'We are the world's elite, the only Nobel laureate of Bangladesh. We put Muhammad Yunus Sir in the main chair, we hoped that he would establish justice. Through it the judiciary will be independent, the people of Bangladesh will get justice. But even after he sat in the chair, the kind of events we see, we are forced to say Dr. Muhammad Yunus sir, you are not fit for Bangladesh.
Farooq Hasan urged not to call the attackers of the Shaheed Minar as students or injured in the anti-discrimination movement, saying, 'These attackers are only terrorists. These terrorists have been granted state-sponsored bail. Otherwise how can they get bail within 6 hours?'
Farooq Hasan also warned that if the attackers are not arrested and brought to justice, the People's Rights Council will do whatever it takes.
