Democracy stage has expressed strong anger and condemnation of 'planned propaganda and misogyny' against Dainik Prothom Alo and Daily Star. In a statement sent on Tuesday (November 26) night, it is said that the provocative propaganda against Prothom Alo and the Daily Star, including the suppression of the voice of free and independent journalism, are violent activities.
The central leader of the democracy stage is the National Socialist Party- JSD President AS M Abdur Rab, Nagrik Oikya President Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Revolutionary Workers Party General Secretary Saiful Haque, Mass Solidarity Movement Chief Coordinator Jonaid Saki, Bhasani Anusari Parishad Convener Sheikh Rafiqul Islam Bablu, State Reform Movement Chief Coordinator Advocate Hasnat Qayyum in a joint statement daily Prothom Alo and in different parts of the country including Dhaka Expressed strong anger and condemnation at the activities of Vishodgar and Kutsa Ratna planned against the English daily Daily Star.
In the statement, the leaders said that the inciting propaganda and violent activities against these two popular newspapers are a way to stifle the voice of free and independent journalism. What has been going on for the past few days at the instigation of special interest groups has created deep insecurity of life and property of the newspaper and its journalists. No civilized and democratic state society can allow such activities on the media.
