Begum Selima Rahman, a member of the BNP Standing Committee, said, “Today we must remember that reform means reforming the country, the state, and the political party as well.” Many people stand back and take pictures while speaking, I mean, this picture will not help. If we can't do any work, if we can't do the welfare of the people. We have to remember that national leader Khaleda Zia has suffered a lot, yet she did not bow down. He said, save the country, save the people. This is what he fought for all his life.
He said these things at a discussion meeting organized on Monday (November 25) at the Abdus Salam Hall of the National Press Club on the occasion of the homecoming of Mahidur Rahman, advisor to the Chairperson of the BNP and the demand for the withdrawal of the false cases of all the politicians including the National Leader Begum Khaleda Zia and the Acting Chairman of the BNP Tariq Rahman. The meeting was organized by 'Mahidur Rahman Homecoming Organizing Committee'.
Begum Selima Rahman said, BNP does not fight for power. BNP fights for the welfare of the people. Because you see how many autocrats have come one after the other – from Shahid Zia to Begum Khaleda Zia who is plagued with false cases today. Numerous false cases against Tariq Rahman. How many leaders have been missing and killed in 17 years. How many things have passed us by. Still, BNP is repeatedly standing by the people with these false cases.
He said that the students' quota movement was the main one and then it became a one-time movement. Many mothers lost their children in that movement. Many boys have lost their fathers. Many people are injured today, we still don't know their future. Efforts are being made to heal them and give them a future. The freedom we got after so much trouble, but we could not enjoy the full taste of that freedom. Because some plotters of autocratic government repeatedly destroy it.
Under the chairmanship of central BNP member Farida Yasmin and convener of Mahidur Rahman Homecoming Organizing Committee Sarwar Hossain Rubel, BNP Joint Secretary General Advocate Abdus Salam Azad, Volunteer Affairs Secretary Mir Sarfat Ali Sapu and others were present in it.
