Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Professor Mia Golam Parwar has issued a statement on Tuesday (December 3) expressing deep concern and strongly protesting the incident of vandalism and burning of the national flag at the Assistant High Commission of Bangladesh in Agartala, India.
In the statement, he said, “A radical organization of India named 'Hindu Sanchash Samiti' vandalized the Assistant High Commission of Bangladesh in Agartala, India on December 2 afternoon. At that time they lowered the national flag of Bangladesh and set it on fire, which is highly reprehensible, unwanted and unintended. We express our deep concern and strongly protest against this incident.”
In the statement, he also said, 'vandalizing the High Commission of an independent-sovereign country and lowering the national flag and setting it on fire is contrary to the Geneva Convention, international law and diplomatic etiquette. We think that this incident is part of a deep conspiracy and plot to destroy friendly relations between Bangladesh and India.
He said, 'Where India fails to provide security to the diplomatic missions of its neighboring countries in its own country, they have no right to talk about Bangladesh, a country of communal harmony, a country of peaceful coexistence. The people of Bangladesh do not like anyone's grandfathering over their heads at all. We call upon the people of Bangladesh from all walks of life to keep their eyes and ears open and be alert and vigilant. Strong national unity can prevent any foreign aggression.'
He said, “The main motto of Bangladesh's foreign policy is 'friendship with all, not enmity with anyone.' Bangladesh is a peaceful country that believes in the principle of coexistence. Bangladesh also expects the same policy from all the countries of the world.
