Noor demanded the resignation of the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal


The President of the People's Rights Council, Nurul Haque Noor, has demanded the resignation of Mohammad Tajul Islam from the post of Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal. He made this demand after the Bangladesh Lawyers' Rights Council's demonstration at the main gate of the International Criminal Tribunal on Thursday afternoon.

This demand was raised in protest against the participation of Tajul Islam as a lawyer in the hearing of the writ filed by the Reza Kibria section in the High Court challenging the validity of the registration of the People's Rights Council.

Meanwhile, Nurul Haque Noor and his party workers have been asked to apologize by the prosecution citing the protest as unwanted and conspiracy.

On behalf of the Office of the Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal, Nurul Haque Noor and his party workers strongly condemned and protested this illegal and conspiratorial act. Along with this, it was informed in the notification that appropriate legal action will be taken against Nurul Haque Noor if he does not retract his false and misleading statement and apologize.

Nurul Haque Noor said, 'Gana Adhikar Parishad (GOP) is a registered political party. New leadership was elected through the council and Dr. Reza Kibria filed a writ in the High Court to get registration under the same name as he was removed from the party. However, the investigation report of the Election Commission clearly states that the council of the People's Rights Council is valid. That's why we got registration. But a group of 10-12 people have entered into a conspiracy to get registration in the same or close names. Now Reza Kibria himself has resigned from the responsibility of this group.

Noor also said, 'The Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal, appointed at the rank of Attorney General, heard the conspirators as lawyers to get them registered. He is using public office to influence the judiciary. He cannot be a lawyer against the Election Commission, another constitutional institution from a government position.' Noor demanded that Tajul Islam resign from the International Criminal Tribunal in order to hear the writ as a lawyer of the conspirators.
