Jatiya Party Chairman Gholam Mohammad (GM) Quader said that the movement of anti-discrimination students to destroy fascism from the country has failed. We see neo-fascism again.'
He said this at a short discussion meeting organized in front of the central office at Segunbagicha in the capital on the occasion of the founding anniversary of the party on Wednesday. On the occasion of the 39th founding anniversary of Jatiya Party, the party organized this meeting at IDEB Auditorium in the capital. However, as they did not get permission from the administration, they held a short program in front of the central office in the afternoon.
Pointing out that Jatiya Party leaders and workers are being brutally tortured and arrested across the country, GM Quader said, 'The way we are being obstructed, the leaders and workers are being harassed – we think this is also fascism. Where we thought we would create a discrimination-free society by anti-discrimination movement, we are being subjected to discrimination again. Although everyone is united to destroy fascism, neo-fascism is rising again. We see neo-fascism again.'
Commenting on the government's failure to ensure the security of a registered political party at that time, the JAPA chairman said, 'We will celebrate the founding anniversary of our party, no one can have anything to say here. We are a registered political party, we are not a banned organization. We have always stood by the people. Our right to peaceful protest is our legal right, we are not allowed to do so. Not allowing gatherings citing security concerns. Someone threatens, the responsibility of the state was to ensure security, the state is not fulfilling it.'
He said, 'When the government was formed on August 5, we were there. All agreed when Dr. Everyone agreed that Muhammad Yunus would be made the chief adviser. Why? We assumed he would be neutral, an unbiased person. He will be above greed. His honor is all over the world. We need him to deal with this crisis. We accept him, but as days pass, we accept him but he cannot accept us.'
“His own close people, they are engaged in dividing the country in various ways,” he alleged. On the one hand, the anti-fascist forces are on the other hand, the fascists and the fascists. By dividing in this way, every opportunity for revenge has been given. Police, Administration, Judiciary directly assisted in this work.
He also said, 'When he (chief adviser) called for national unity. He removed 30 parties, including the Jatiya Party, out of 48 registered parties there, then he officially accepted this division.'
Party General Secretary Mujibul Haque Chunnu said, 'We believe in peace. I applied to the DMP to hold the meeting, gave permission verbally, wanted to hold the meeting according to the rules. The permission was later revoked. We did not know why the meeting was not allowed. A thousand students gave their lives for democracy. That is the result of today's government, but why are we not allowed to do this program?'
Jatiya Party Co-Chairman ABM Ruhul Amin Howladar, Presidium Member Sherifa Quader, Saifuddin Ahmed Milan, Adv. Md. Rezaul Islam Bhuiyan and others. At the end of the meeting, a rally came out and ended by going to the press club.
