NCP concern over EC's role in Israq's case over the post of mayor

The National Citizens Party (NCP) has expressed concern over the 'Israq Hossain and Sheikh Fazle Noor Tapas case, unilateral verdict and the activities and activities of the Election Commission in that regard.

In a statement signed by the party's joint member secretary (office) Sifin Sifat on Tuesday (April 23), NCP chief coordinating Nasiruddin Patwari said, “We noticed that the first three years of the above cases were fixed in five months, but the case was set up in just four months.”

He said that at the same time, other cases were not fixed with such a quick date. As a result, the wise tribunal has only questioned whether or not one party in this case has given unjust benefit with special priority.

He also said that the important affidavits of the case were illegally edited and submitted by the third party to amend the RG and sought different remedies. But the wise tribunal did not judge and granted it. We think these events have questioned the transparency and neutrality of the judicial system.

Referring to the commission's role in the case was mysterious, Nasiruddin Patwari said the Election Commission did not contest in the case despite being a dispute in the case. As a result, one -sided judgment has been given. Even after the verdict, they are believed to have given special benefits to the plaintiff in the case without praying for the remedy in the High Court. Such activities of the Commission are unusual and worrying. As we have seen before, the Election Commission has made it instead of maintaining its neutral behavior – people think that a large political party is facilitating.

Nasiruddin Patwari said the administrator was appointed to Dhaka South City Corporation on August 8 under the concerned law before the verdict was announced. As a result, the whole case has become ineffective. Still, the judgment and the publication of the Commission Gazette in a hurry, whether there was any special purpose in the publication of the Gazette, must be cleaned in the public.

According to the notice, the NCP believes that it is impossible to establish democracy and law without an independent and neutral judicial system. The party is demanding a neutral investigation into the whole incident. We hope that the authorities concerned will take the matter seriously and take necessary measures.
