BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has expressed 'strong condemnation' of the attack by extremists on the premises of the Assistant High Commission of Bangladesh in North Agartala, India. He said, 'We hope that Indians will respect the democratic aspirations of the citizens of the new Bangladesh.'
Mirza Fakhrul, who is in London, said these things in a statement on Tuesday (December 3). The party's co-office secretary Advocate Md. Taiful Islam Tipu told the media this information.
In the statement, Mirza Fakhrul said that the attack on the premises of the Assistant High Commission by the members of the organization called 'Hindu Sanchash Samiti' is believed to be pre-planned. Breaking into the Assistant High Commission and taking down the Bangladeshi flag, setting it on fire and vandalizing it is a clear violation of the Vienna Convention.
“We would request the Government of India and the people of India that the use of hatred in Bangladesh as a tactic of your domestic politics will create lasting tension between the two countries,” he said.
Mirza Fakhrul also expressed the hope that India will return the leaders of the previous 'fascist Awami regime' who are staying in India and help them in their trial.
