Mirza Fakhrul called the demand to ban Jatiya Party a 'conspiracy'


BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir termed the demand to ban various political parties including Jatiya Party as a conspiracy.

He said this in response to questions from reporters after a memorial meeting at BRAC Center in Mohakhali in the capital on Saturday afternoon.

This meeting was organized in memory of diplomat Sabih Uddin Ahmed by his well wishers.

BNP Secretary General said, 'Such incidents are being made to make the country uncertain. Who are we to ban political parties? People will decide. It's another plot started. These events are being done to restart an uncertainty in the country. What is not an issue is being made an issue. I think everyone needs to be alert and aware about this.'

Earlier, attending the memorial meeting of Sabih Uddin Ahmed, BNP Secretary General said that as a patriot and a man of nationalist ideals, late Sabih Uddin Ahmed, adviser to BNP Chairperson, former secretary and ambassador, will be remembered with respect and love by the people of the country.

Salehuddin Ahmed, Professor Mahbubullah, Journalist Shafiq Rehman, BNP Standing Committee Member Ameer Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Vice Chairman Abdul Awal Mintu, Chairperson Advisory Council Member Zaheer Uddin Swapan, Jatiya Party Senior Co-Chairman Anisul Islam Mahmud and many others spoke.

Late Sabih Uddin's wife Raonak Ahmed, son Sayab Ahmed, wife of BNP Secretary General Rahat Ara Begum were also present at the memorial meeting.
