Mamata's statement is a threat to sovereignty, Mirza Fakhrul demands withdrawal

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir demanded immediate withdrawal of the statement made by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee regarding the sending of UN peacekeepers to Bangladesh as a threat to the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh.

BNP Secretary General expressed this reaction on behalf of the party to the media on Monday (December 2) night on mobile phone from London.

He said, 'In the morning, I saw a news in some newspapers that I could not comment on the statement made by the Chief Minister of the Indian state of West Bengal about Bangladesh. What he (Mamata Banerjee) said about sending peacekeeping forces to Bangladesh… it is a threat to the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh. We think that through this statement the view of the leaders (of India) has been revealed to some extent.'

“I think West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's statement should be withdrawn immediately. They should not have any such thoughts. Because the people of Bangladesh became independent through a liberation war and recently regained democracy through a revolution… the people of this country will resist such a plot at any cost.'

Incidentally, Trinamool leader Mamata Banerjee attended the winter session of the Legislative Assembly on Monday (December 2) and sought the personal intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure the safety of religious minorities in Bangladesh.

NDTV wrote, the Chief Minister of West Bengal made such a claim amid the news of the arrest of three priests of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness-ISKON in Bangladesh.

Mirza Fakhrul said, 'The illusory story being spread and published in the Indian media about the deterioration or endangerment of communal harmony in Bangladesh is not acceptable at all.'

'We have repeatedly said that journalists from India came here, they also saw… many famous journalists from West Bengal and India came, they saw – there is no such situation in Bangladesh. However, the way the Indian media and their leaders are propagating a complete lie and threatening the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh will not be accepted by the people of Bangladesh.

The BNP Secretary General said, “Unfortunately, the people of the country will never accept the things that are being said about Bangladesh, the new conspiracy started here (Bangladesh) recently with ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness in Bangladesh).”

'It is very clear that the recent role of ISKCON is very suspicious, mysterious and threatening to the independence-sovereignty of Bangladesh, to the stability of Bangladesh.'
