The chief adviser of the interim government. Senior Joint Secretary General of BNP Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi commented that former IGP Mohammad Khoda Baksh Chowdhury, Special Assistant to Muhammad Yunus and former Cabinet Secretary Ali Imam Majumdar have taken a stand against pro-democracy forces.
He said these things while interacting with reporters at the party's central office in Nayapaltan on Wednesday (November 20) afternoon.
Rizvi said, 'Now some new ones join the advisory council or as chief advisory officers and their target should become – to target those who were in favor of the movement or those who were sympathetic. Mr. Khoda Baksh was a former IG of Police. But what was his role for 15 and a half years? How many people does he know? We know, we are oppressed every moment. This office was broken and taken away four or five times. We who are sitting here, the day Sheikh Hasina fell, the day after that we were released from jail. I was on remand until the day before that.'
Rizvi said, 'This is the spirit of the democratic movement, this is the consciousness, what do you believe? They don't think so. They talk big. Want to show that they are very impartial. What did you do when you were the IG of BNP? Because of you 1/11 came, undemocratic power came. After the formation of the Advisory Council, Ali Imam Majumder Sahib appointed the DC to reorganize the administration – precisely those who were in favor of Awami fascism, appointed the DC.'
'Later it may have changed to become controversial in many ways. But during these 15 and a half years of Sheikh Hasina's tenure, he is undoubtedly an intellectual man who practiced his intellect and wrote in newspapers. But have ever written an article in favor of the democratic movement? Did they ever write a word in support of us, or did they give an opinion in July-August? But they hold a view in their hearts, we have seen the reflection of that, after he became an advisor.'
This spokesperson of BNP said, 'Khoda Baksh Sahib, we have heard that he is taking a stand against those who were deprived after his arrival, those who were sympathetic to the movement. But it is a very mysterious thing. Action is being taken against them by targeting, they are being removed.'
Rizvi said, 'The action of some advisers outside the original spirit has made us think. It has thrown the whole nation into a state of panic. That is why today people like Salman F Rahman are trying to destabilize the country from inside the jail and those who are not arrested yet – they are pouring huge sums of money to destabilize.'
BNP Organizing Secretary Kazi Syedul Alam Babul, Joint Publicity Secretary Asadul Karim Shaheen, National Executive Committee Member Khandaker Abu Ashfaq, Mamun Hasan, Habibur Rashid Habib, Fazlur Rahman Khokon, Ronakul Islam Shravan, Abdus Sattar Patwari, Rashed Iqbal Khan were present in the press conference. etc.
