BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has traveled to London for treatment. The special air ambulance carrying him left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Tuesday (January 7) around 12:15 PM.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir spoke to reporters after the flight carrying Khaleda Zia left the airport.
Mirza Fakhrul said, 'Khaleda Zia has asked for prayers from the countrymen. While leaving, he (Khaleda Zia) said again, you (Fakhrul) will tell everyone that the countrymen should pray for me. I (Khaleda Zia) also pray to Allah, to keep the country and its people well, to do good.'
At the airport, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir also said, 'The most popular leader of Bangladesh, Khaleda Zia, was sentenced and detained for six years under the torture of the fascist Awami League government. At that time he fell ill and was admitted to the hospital. Then we repeatedly requested the fascist Hasina to allow the leader to go out for treatment. But the fascist Hasina did not listen to anything.'
Mirza Fakhrul said, 'Khaleda Zia is now free after the fascist Hasina fled the country by the grace of God. Our leader Khaleda Zia has been freed from all false cases. He is now going to London for treatment. We hope that Khaleda Zia will come back to the people of the country after the good treatment.
Asked if Khaleda Zia gave any political message, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, 'The political message is that the countrymen should be well and healthy. Let democracy be established, let us consolidate the democratic system.'
