Jamaat's meeting with the UN delegation


Jamaat-e-Islami held a meeting with the UN delegation visiting Bangladesh. This meeting was held at the United Nations residential office in Gulshan in the capital on Thursday afternoon. Jamaat-e-Islami Naib Amir Syed Abdullah. A four-member delegation of the party led by Taher attended the meeting.

After the meeting, Syed Abdullah said. Taher told reporters, “There was an exchange of views on the current changing situation in Bangladesh, especially the ongoing judicial process, Bangladesh's development, progress, democracy and elections.”

This Jamaat leader also said, 'They want to know about how Jamaat-e-Islami wants to see Bangladesh in the future. We have presented our position on behalf of the party. We have said about the trial – those who are guilty, they must be tried.'

Referring to the issue of impartial justice, Abdullah said. Taher further said, 'Judgment should be impartial and no one should be deprived of justice. We have also discussed that the trials that will be held in the International Criminal Tribunal should be of international standards. We talked about the necessary reforms, the creation of a democratic system and a timely free, fair and participatory election in the country.'

The UN delegation consisted of five representatives, including Sebastian Verelst, Transitional Justice Advisor to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and Markus Lenzen, Deputy Chief of Financing for Peacebuilding.

Jamaat-e-Islami's delegation included party secretary general Mia Golam Parwar, central executive council member Saiful Alam Khan Milan, central executive council member and publicity department secretary Matiur Rahman Akand.
