Jamaat leader Azharul was accused of appeal


The court has given permission to hear the appeal of Jamaat leader ATM Azharul Islam in the case of crimes against humanity during the War of Liberation. The Appellate Division, led by Chief Justice Syed Rifat Ahmed, granted the Live to Appeal (Appeal Permission) on Wednesday after hearing the petition of the Appellate Division's verdict (review).

The appeal hearing is fixed on April 22. It has also been asked to submit the essence of appeal within two weeks.

Barrister Ehsan A. Siddique heard on behalf of ATM Azharul Islam. He was accompanied by lawyer Mohammad Shishir Monir.

After the order, Ehsan A. Siddique said that there were reviews in five grounds. These include – International law was not obeyed in the judgment that the Apil Division had given, international law was excluded for evil purposes. The witness says that he was identified from 5 km away, which is not possible and some document courts did not consider the court. There the witness said- ATM Azharul is his classmate. In fact, the witness was not a classmate at ATM Azharul. He said that this first live was granted in terms of review application in any case against humanity.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Appellate Division had fixed the day for the next hearing on Wednesday after a partial hearing. In the Appellate Division, the prosecution of the International Crimes Tribunal did not oppose Azhar's argument.

The International Crimes Tribunal sentenced ATM Azharul Islam to death on December 7 in the case of crimes against humanity. The Appellate Division upheld the death sentence on October 7, when appealed against it. The petition was then filed in the Appellate Division on July 7, 2012, seeking the verdict.

Meanwhile, the party leaders and activists staged a rally and rally across the country on February 7 demanding the release of the Jamaat leader. They claim that the Awami League government has unjustly kept ATM Azhar in jail for the last five years. So six months after the fall of the Awami League, they were forced to go down the highway for his release. At the same time, Jamaat leaders and activists have announced that he will stay on the highway until he is released.
