Police have arrested former Chhatra League leader Mohammad Mazharul Islam Manik on charges of attacking students during an anti-discrimination student movement.
He was arrested on Tuesday evening (February 11) from the 32 number area in Dhanmondi, Dhaka.
Manik, who was a former leader of the central Chhatra League and a member of its central Forest and Environment subcommittee, is also a member of the Pabna district Awami League.
According to the police, he attacked students during the July movement in the capital, supporting the ousted Awami League government.
Sources from Kalabagan police station revealed that the arrested Mazharul Islam Manik was involved in the attack on students during the anti-discrimination student movement. He was arrested in a case filed at the Kalabagan police station and has been sent to jail through court proceedings after his arrest.
