BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir commented that today we are unfortunately doing such things, through which the possibility of the return of fascism has increased a lot.
He said these things in the speech of the chief guest at the discussion meeting titled 'Role of Writers and Artists in State Reorganization' organized by Jatiya Kavita Parishad at Tafazzal Hossain Manik Mia Hall of National Press Club on Thursday (November 28).
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, fascism has been defeated. Fascism can come back at any time. We should not build that road. Unfortunately, there are many things we do today that increase the likelihood of a return to fascism. Now is the time for us to move forward unitedly.
He said, building a democratic Bangladesh by building a democratic culture and truly democratic reforms, is undoubtedly a complex task, in terms of our country. We have to do this. What we need most to do this work – those who we thought, fascism needs to fall, fascism needs to be removed and a state, society that is truly useful for the people needs to be built, they need to work together.
The Secretary General of BNP said, today is difficult and sad. Before coming here (meeting), mother's call coordinator Sanjeeda came to my house with her brother. He came and said, 'Sir, I am very upset today.' I asked why? He said, 'What I have been seeing for the past few days, I am getting upset. For so long, the hardships, the hard work, the sacrifices, the passing of loved ones, it seems like a terrible situation is being created.' I (Mirza Fakhrul) think that this situation is being created in a very planned way and it is being done by the so-called fascism.
Fakhrul also said, we who were against fascism, fought, struggled, why are we creating division here? Today in different places, hearing different things is scary. Today we are trying to take the whole movement in a different direction. We should have one goal now. That is, to go to parliament with the reforms that are needed to build a truly democratic state.
This top leader of BNP said that we should all move ahead by making use of the opportunity we got from unity without creating disunity. But unfortunately, it has been 53 years, we have not been able to achieve peaceful transfer of power till now. We are always fighting, fighting, shedding brother's blood.
Addressing the youth, the Secretary General said, many of you have come to the responsibility. This responsibility must be fulfilled responsibly. The entire nation must be kept in front. We will not do anything, we will not do any deed, through deed, we will go back into darkness.
