Don't fall into the trap of incitement, stay calm: Tariq Rahman to countrymen

Acting Chairman of BNP Tariq Rahman has alleged that the Indian media is inciting anti-Bangladesh sentiments and damaging regional stability. He urged the countrymen to remain calm in the regional tension caused by such propaganda.

He made this call in a statement on social media platform X today.

Urging not to step into the trap of incitement, Tariq Rahman said, “I request my fellow Bangladeshis to show maximum restraint and not to step into the trap of any kind of incitement.”

Citing the recent attack on the Bangladeshi consulate in Agartala as proof of the instability caused by confusion, the Acting Chairman of BNP claimed that such incidents risk deepening the conflict between neighboring countries.

Emphasizing the importance of building relations between the people of Bangladesh and India, he wrote, 'International actors must recognize that no other country has anything to gain by destabilizing Bangladesh, which has a population of about 200 million.'

Tariq Rahman also urged international observers to understand the situation after Sheikh Hasina's departure and the political dynamics in Bangladesh.

He wrote, 'Bangladesh was and will remain a country of religious harmony and territorial sovereignty. The rights and freedoms of every citizen irrespective of caste, color and religion are protected in this country.
