The country has changed through the July revolution. We want a new constitution for the new Bangladesh. The elected representatives will make the new constitution. That is why the next election will be the Constituent Assembly election.
The Constituent Assembly will formulate a new constitution.
The leaders of the anti-discrimination student movement raised such a demand in their speech at the 'March for Unity' program. This program was celebrated in the central Shaheed Minar of the capital on Tuesday. The program was announced on the occasion of the reading of the 'July Revolution Declaration'. But the government itself has taken the initiative of making a declaration with everyone. Welcoming that initiative, the student movement did not issue any manifesto.
The government has been given 15 days to do their work since yesterday's programme. It has been said that the declaration of the July Revolution should be presented to the nation by January 15. At the same time, the leaders of the anti-discrimination student movement and the National Citizen Committee have demanded that the Constituent Assembly elections be held for the purpose of reforming the constitution, the trial of those involved in the July-August massacre, ensuring the proper treatment of the injured and speeding up the reform process.
Various discussions have been going on in the country's political arena for two days about the 'July Revolution Declaration'. When various arguments for and against the declaration started, the government announced that the government would issue the declaration of coup. Later on Monday night, the leaders of the anti-discrimination student movement said that the 'March for Unity' program will be held at the central Shaheed Minar on Tuesday.
To participate in the March for Unity program, the leaders and activists of the anti-discrimination student movement and the National Citizen Committee began to gather at Shaheed Minar in a piecemeal procession from yesterday morning. At that time, they chanted slogans like 'I want the execution of Hasina's killer', 'I have given you blood, I will give you more blood', 'Delhi na Dhaka, Dhaka, Dhaka', 'Kshamta na Janata, Janata Janata'. Documentary of July Revolution is shown.
At 4 pm, the 'March for Unity' program officially started with a 1-minute silence for the martyrs of the July uprising. Shahriar Hasan Alvi's father Md. Abul Hasan said, 'Murderer Hasina who killed two thousand children including my son. Murderer Hasina should be brought to the country and her maximum death sentence should be executed. At the same time, he demanded quick medical treatment for the injured.
Hasnat Abdullah, convener of the anti-discrimination student movement, said that the declaration of the July mass uprising must be issued by January 15, “The murderer Hasina will not be rehabilitated in this country.” For the last 16 years, the murderous Hasina has tortured every political power and deprived the people of their voting rights. We forced this Hasina to run away. I would like to tell the government that the law and order situation has not normalized yet, the price of goods has not been controlled. We are yet to secure justice for 16 years of extrajudicial killings.'
People of the country want declaration of revolution, want new constitution, want reforms – member secretary of National Citizens Committee Akhtar Hossain has called for the election of Constituent Assembly. He said that the new constitution will be through the elected representatives of the people of Bangladesh. The next election will be the Constituent Assembly election. This Constituent Assembly will frame the new constitution.
Nasiruddin Patwari, convenor of the National Citizens Committee, said, “If we do not find the basis of our justification, the words of our blood in the manifesto, then we will not sit down. I would like to warn the government to be active in abolishing the fascist system immediately. If not, July's tiger cubs will take the law into their hands.'
Sarjis Alam, chief organizer of the National Citizens Committee, said, 'The murderers still roam freely in front of us. They must be judged. How our comrades are still attacked in Gopalganj. I want to say to the police, 'If you cannot provide security, there is no need to sit on that chair. If anyone tries to betray the dream for which so many people have given their lives and blood, they must be uprooted.'
Samantha Sharmin, spokesperson of the National Citizens Committee, said, 'Even after 5 months of the coup, I have not seen anyone taking any initiative for the July Proclamation. After the anti-discrimination student movement took the initiative, the government took the initiative. I want to tell the government that the proclamation must be announced by January 15.'
Spokesperson of anti-discrimination student movement, Umama Fatema said, 'I applaud the initiative of the government. But we do not want any delay with this proclamation. There will be no election before the trial of Awami League. Justice has not been done to those injured in the July uprising.'
