Moin Khan said, it is surprising why we have to discuss the demand for the declaration of National Flag Day after 53 years of independence. On March 2, 1971, the national flag was hoisted in front of the Kalabhavan by AS Abdur Rab. On that day, the then parliamentary session was canceled due to the protest of the democratic people of East Pakistan.
The flag of that day was not only the red green flag, but the center was golden Bangladesh. But still independence was not declared. Analyzing the history, it can be seen that the flag of the independent country was hoisted before the declaration of independence. It is unique. On that day, thousands of people came down to the streets, the student crowd. It was no different from the student movement on August 5.
Moin Khan also said that day. S. Abdur Rab was accompanied by Shahjahan Siraj, Nur Alam Siddiqui, Abdus Quddus Patwari. How much respect have we been able to give them the history of independence?
This senior leader of BNP said that in 1948, the students sowed the seeds of freedom in the slogan 'Rashtra Bhasha Bangla Chai'. In 1952 I saw the language movement, in 1962 I saw the movement against the education policy. That day, thousands of students protested on the streets of Dhaka against Hamidur Rahman's education policy. That day the students said that this education policy was for the rich and not for East Pakistan. Then the history of student revolt in 69' and 71. Bangladesh became independent on the blood of millions of people. At that time the people of Bangladesh said only one thing, we want democracy.
Moin Khan said that the people have been protesting against the fascist government for the last 15 years. On August 5th, the dictatorial Sheikh Hasina was forced to flee due to the students' movement. These histories are based on the same sources. The role played by students of Bangladesh history is unforgettable. I believe it will remain a part of world history. He urged the young students to learn from the new red-green flag today.
