Bangladesh National Awami Party-Bangladesh NAP commented that the attack on the Bangladesh High Commission in Agartala and the burning of the national flag of Bangladesh is a challenge to the sovereignty of Bangladesh and a clear violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, 1961.
In a statement sent to the media on Tuesday (December 3), Bangladesh NAP Chairman Jebel Rahman Gani and Secretary General M. Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan commented.
They strongly condemned, protested and angered the attack on the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala, the capital of Tripura, India and expressed deep concern and anger.
Two top leaders of Bangladesh NAP said, 'This heinous attack on a diplomatic mission of Bangladesh and the disrespect of the national flag of Bangladesh has become a tableau, similar violent protests took place in Kolkata on November 28. Such an attack on the diplomatic mission at Agartala is a clear violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, 1961.'
They said, 'India-Bangladesh friendship must be based on mutual understanding and equality. There big brother sloppy behavior can never be desirable. Reciprocity is key in bilateral relations. India should understand that this Bangladesh is independent, sovereign and self-respecting. As a neighbor, India should remember that Bangladesh believes in equality and friendship based on equal rights.
