Advisor to BNP Chairperson and former Chief Whip Zainul Abdin Farooq said that those who are fighting for democracy, have endured the oppression of Awami League for 16 years, they should face elections. The conspiracy of Awami League has started around the election, it must be stopped.
He said these things while addressing a protest rally organized by Bangladesh Youth Forum in front of the National Press Club on Tuesday (November 5) as the chief guest. The rally was held to demand the 'radical overthrow of fascist allies from all levels of the state and administration to ensure the eradication of fascism'.
Addressing the interim government, Zainul Abdin Farooq said, 'Don't go for such reforms, for which again a circle can plan to destroy this democracy of Bangladesh. Reform but don't indulge in such reforms that elections are delayed in the name of reforms.'
Zainul Abdin Farooq said, 'Our demand is clear, we want elections. Awami League ruled the country for 16 years and destroyed democracy, destroyed constitutional institutions, emptied the breasts of many mothers, violated human rights by creating mirror houses.
He said, 'Sheikh Hasina's friends are still working in various places including the ministry. Why have they been appointed?'
He also said, 'Awami League is again trying to destabilize the interim government in Bangladesh. This instability cannot be allowed to happen.' He demanded immediate cancellation and removal of their posts.
At that time, he demanded the interim government to withdraw Tariq Rahman's case and to withdraw the case against 4 million BNP leaders and workers.
President of the organizing organization Mohammad Saidur Rahman presided over the demonstration and moderated by Manjur Hossain Isa who also spoke at the rally – BNP Information and Research Secretary Riaz Uddin Nasu, Dhaka Journalist Union President Shahidul Islam, Jatiya Gontantric Party (JAGPA) Vice President Rashed Pradhan, BNP Executive Committee Member Maulana Nesarul Haque, general secretary of the organization Mahbubul Haque Chowdhury and others.
