BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called upon the interim government to hold elections in the shortest possible time for the political stability of the country. For this purpose, he called for the election roadmap to be announced immediately.
He said these things in a discussion meeting at Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka University on Saturday evening. Bhasani Anusari Parishad organized this meeting on the occasion of Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani's 48th death anniversary.
Addressing the government, Mirza Fakhrul said, 'without further delay, announce an election roadmap as soon as possible, which is very important at this moment. Announcing the roadmap will end many controversies. Through the announcement of this roadmap, a confidence will be created again among the people.
Arguing behind the demand for quick elections, BNP Secretary General said, 'We are saying from our experience – a free and fair election can give a political stability to Bangladesh. Expectations from the government – they will remove the garbage in a very short time and organize participatory elections acceptable to all. Take a step forward to realize the dream of the nation to build a new Bangladesh.
Regarding reforms, he said, 'Many people are talking today. Reform must be done. The government has also constituted some commissions to carry out reforms. People have confidence in them. But what we want, our hope is to make reforms in a short period of time, especially election-centric reforms and move towards that new light through elections. The longer the delay, the more controversy will arise. The more the enemies of Bangladesh will be organized. Fascist Awami League, who are expelled from here, Sheikh Hasina will try to create instability in Bangladesh by channeling more power. That effort is underway now.'
He also said, a lot of garbage, a lot of garbage. It is not possible to remove all the garbage in one day or two days. Still, as soon as possible, he will fulfill his duty by holding an election.
Urging Maulana Bhasani to be presented to the new generation, Fakhrul said, 'We, this country, this nation could not evaluate this man properly.'
