Amnesty International has called for those who attacked Awami League workers and supporters in the capital to be held accountable. This call was made in a post last Tuesday on the verified X (former Twitter) handle of the regional office of the International Human Rights Organization in South Asia.
On the occasion of Noor Hossain Day, Awami League announced a program at zero point of the capital on November 10 (Sunday). The workers and supporters of the party could not carry out the program in the face of obstacles.
Amnesty International's office in South Asia wrote in a Twitter post, “The authorities must take responsibility for the attack on the participants of the Awami League program at Zero Point on Sunday.”
A quick and impartial investigation should be held to bring those involved under accountability. Attacking someone because of political ideology is a violation of the right to freedom of expression and assembly. The authorities must take steps to protect these rights of people regardless of political identity.'
