'Accept fair demands by merging Rural Electrification Board and Rural Electricity Association'

The leaders of my Bangladesh Party (AB Party) said that the power sector was devastated by the looting of the Awami mafia syndicate. For the past few days, we have seen that the crisis created between the Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board and the Rural Electricity Association is causing the people to suffer anew. To solve this crisis, the Rural Electrification Board and the Rural Electricity Association must be reformed.

They made this demand at a press conference organized on Monday (October 21) on 'the looting of the electricity sector, the crisis created by the Rural Electrification Board and the Rural Electricity Association and what can be done to solve it'.

AB Party Joint Member Secretary Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuad said, 'Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was in charge of the Power Ministry of the previous government. He kept Nasrul Hamid Bipu in this ministry to continue the looting of the Sheikh family. The continuation of that mismanagement is still going on.'

He said, 'We saw, after the fall of fascism, a new crisis appeared between the Rural Electrification Board and the Rural Electricity Association. We came to know from the news that the officers and employees of Palli Vidyut Samiti have been agitating for some of their demands since several years ago. As a result of that, some activities like electricity black out have happened.'

AB Party Assistant Member Secretary Engineer Mohammad Lokman said, 'We have to separate the demands and sabotage of the officers and employees of Palli Vidyut Samiti. We think that some sections of beneficiaries of the previous government and some bureaucrats are fueling the chaos of the power sector. We will tell the government to consider the fair demands of the rural electricity officials.'

He said, 'Rural Electrification Board and Rural Electricity Association should be merged and the jobs of the officers and employees working temporarily in Rural Electricity should be made permanent.'

Also present at the press conference were AB Party Dhaka Metropolitan South Joint Member Secretary Safiul Basar, Organizing Secretary Abdul Halim Nannu, Metropolitan North Joint Member Secretary Abdur Rob Jamil, Youth Party Dhaka Metropolitan North Member Secretary Shahinur Akhtar Sheela, Central Committee Member Sumaiya Sharmin Farhana, Amena Begum. , Paltan police station convener Abdul Quader Munsi, member secretary Abdul Wadud Molla Roni and leaders of various levels of the central and metropolitan areas.
