Pointing to the Awami League, Gayeshwar said, 'Those whom I will declare banned, they themselves banned themselves and fled the country. There is no one to make a statement, no one to make a slogan.'
Gayeshwar Chandra said this at the discussion meeting titled 'Today's Bangladesh in the Context of the Great National Revolution and Solidarity Day' on November 7. Freedom Forum organized this meeting at Abdus Salam Hall of National Press Club on Monday.
Talking about the liberation war and the next government, Gayeshwar Chandra said, 'People from all walks of life made the country independent, and Awami League formed the government. Are they following the constitution that they write in seventy-two? Theft, robbery, robbery, bank robbery, violence against women – were these written in the constitution? They are the ones who violated the constitution of 72. They are the ones who violate the constitution and establish one-party rule. In the last 52 years, there is no party in Bangladesh that violated the constitution like Awami League. Sheikh Hasina has not obeyed the law for so long. Now fearing the law. He would not have left the country if he had not been afraid.'
Saluting the student leaders who led the July Revolution, he said, 'People of the country will be happy if they do what they should do based on their experience in forming Bangladesh. The people of the country want elections, BNPO wants elections. No stubborn decision brings peace. Ziaur Rahman gave opportunity to all banned political parties to do politics. Bakshali also gave Awami League a chance to do politics. Ziaur Rahman is the second leader of Awami League. The first leader was Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani.
BNP Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu said, 'What Awami League has been promoting for the last 20 years on November 7 is a terrible incident. The countrymen did not take that seriously. Awami League was in their hearts. Shaheed Ziaur Rahman is such a leader of Bangladesh, such a thinker without whom freedom, sovereignty and democracy cannot be imagined in Bangladesh. Whoever does not respect Shahid Zia is actually a broker of fascism. Those who do not obey him do not deserve to live in Bangladesh.
He said, 'Sheikh Mujib closed all political parties and newspapers in the country. Ziaur Rahman exposed all political parties, even his own political party (Awami League). Shaheed Ziaur Rahman is the reborn of Awami League. The first birth father is Maulana Bhasani and the second birth father is Ziaur Rahman.
