The leaders of the National Citizens Committee said that the next election will be the Constituent Assembly election. Through which people can be gifted a beautiful constitution. At the same time, Awami League will only face trial and will not be allowed to participate in the elections.
On Tuesday (January 21) evening, National Citizens Committee held a representative conference of Dhaka Metropolitan North Police Station.
In the question-and-answer session of the workers in the conference, the convenor of the organization Nasir Uddin Patwari said that the current government is continuing its activities at a slow pace. The activities of the current government are not compatible with our aspirations for the July revolution. The next election we are talking about will be the Constituent Assembly election. Through which people can be gifted a beautiful constitution.
Nasir Uddin Patwari also said that the political parties are putting pressure on the interim government and trying to make it fail.
Answering the question whether Awami League will be able to participate in the election or not, Akter Hossain, a member of the National Citizen Committee, said that Awami League can face only one thing – that is the trial. Besides, the National Citizen Committee will not allow Awami League to participate in the vote.
Samantha Sharmin, spokesperson of the National Citizens Committee, said that the Election Commission, police and law enforcement agencies should be reformed in the electoral process. These reforms must be visible before the Constituent Assembly elections we are talking about.
