BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas commented that the August 21 grenade attack was planned by a foreign force and BNP was not involved in it. He also termed the verdict in the August 21 grenade attack case as a 'good news of justice' in the month of Vijay.
After announcing the verdict of the case, Mirza Abbas said these things in a discussion meeting at the National Press Club of the capital on Sunday. He said, 'Today I want to give you news of a victory on the first day of victory. That is, you remember there was a grenade attack on 21 August. Since Tariq Rahman was not involved in that case, everyone including him has been acquitted.
Mirza Abbas said, 'We did not get justice in the past days. I got the first good news today on the first day of December. We expect more good news ahead.'
Claiming that foreign forces were involved in the August 21 case, Mirza Abbas said, 'The grenade attack on August 21 was planned by a foreign force. BNP was never involved in that grenade attack. A foreign power wanted to implicate the national leader Begum Khaleda Zia and our leader BNP Acting Chairman Tariq Rahman by committing this crime. Not only did they want to frame him, but he (Tareek Rahman) was sentenced based on that story by creating a false case. Many others were convicted in this case. Today it was ruled that Tariq Rahman was not involved, he was acquitted.'
At that time, Mirza Abbas also said that acting chairman of BNP Tariq Rahman will return to the country soon. He said, 'I will say that Tariq Rahman will return safely to us very soon. For this, Allah healed him, kept him healthy and redeemed him. I pray for his release, may Allah grant him long life, so that he can serve the people of the country.'
This leader of BNP said, “Our acting chairman is abroad. He was ill for many days and during his stay in the country he was arrested and tortured a lot. We have seen Chawkbazar jail. He left us the night before, I haven't seen him for a long time. Then when he brought it back he was absolutely sick. He could not walk. Now abroad by the grace of God fairly well, though not completely well.'
BNP Vice Chairman Barkat Ullah Bulu, Nurul Islam Moni, Joint Secretary General Abdus Salam Azad, National Party Chairman Syed Ehsanul Huda among others spoke at this meeting organized by the Freedom Forum. Freedom Forum President Abu Nasser Muhammad Rahmatullah presided over the meeting.
