Retired government secretary AMM Nasir Uddin has been appointed as Chief Election Commissioner (CEC). President Md. Sahabuddin gave this appointment as his constitutional power. At the same time, he has appointed four more election commissioners.

It is reported that the new Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin is an officer of BCS 1979 batch administration cadre. He served as Information Secretary in 2004, then Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry Secretary, then Planning Commission Member and lastly as Health Ministry Secretary. He retired in January 2009.
It is also known that the house of new CEC AMM Nasir Uddin is in Qutubdia of Cox's Bazar. He studied economics from Chittagong University. He started his career as a teacher.
The other four election commissioners are – Additional Secretary (retired). Anwarul Islam Sarkar, District and Sessions Judge (Retired) Abdur Rahmanel Masud, Joint Secretary (Retired) Begum Tahmida Ahmad and Brigadier General (Retired) Abul Fazal Md. Sanaullah
Before this, according to the law on the reorganization of the Election Commission, a six-member search committee was formed under the leadership of Justice Zubair Rahman Chowdhury of the Appellate Division on October 29. The committee scrutinized and sent a list of 10 people to the President's office on Wednesday (November 20). The President appointed one Chief Election Commissioner and four Election Commissioners from among them.
It should be noted that Kazi Habibul Awal Commission, who was appointed on February 27, 2022 during the previous Awami League government, resigned simultaneously on September 5. Since then, the Election Commission was empty for about three and a half months.
