Chief Advisor Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam explained the protests at the Khulna Press Club in a post on his Verified Facebook account on Saturday night (June 23).
In the post, the press secretary wrote, 'We came to Khulna on a one -day visit this afternoon (Saturday). He was accompanied by two colleagues of my press team. We did press briefing at the Khulna Deputy Commissioner's Office. After the press conference, we visited Khulna University. Later, we stopped at the Khulna Press Club, where the anti -Hasina mass uprising was set on fire. When the press club officials were showing a few rooms in our club, about 20 students came to the club premises with a procession. They were shouting slogans demanding the resignation of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) Commissioner. I heard from the Khulna Press Club journalists that they have been protesting for the past three days. '
Shafiqul Alam wrote, 'The protesters wanted to meet me to file their complaints. After the meeting with the officials of the Press Club, I went down and met them. We patiently heard their complaints and assured them, we will convey their message to the authorities concerned. We played tea and biscuits. About 5 minutes later, we left KPC to Dhaka. '
It should be noted that for the past few days, the leaders of various political parties have been protesting demanding the resignation of Khulna Metropolitan Police Commissioner. In the meantime, Shafiqul Alam went to Khulna Press Club this afternoon. The agitators then said that the press secretary would not be allowed to come out until the KMP Commissioner's resignation was made. The press secretary was there till the writing of the report at 7:30 pm.
