Traffic laws have been changed in Kuwait considering the overall safety of the people. Under the country's new traffic law, an expatriate cannot own more than one vehicle in his name.
Meanwhile, the traffic police handles more than 300 cases on an average every day, 90 percent of which are reported to be drivers not paying attention to the road, using mobile phones while driving. Due to these reasons, the traffic law has been changed.
According to the new rules, the validity of expatriates' driving license will be 3 years from now. On the other hand, if an expatriate working in the company's driving profession does not have a degree certificate and a salary of 600 Kuwaiti dinars in the contract paper, if he has a license after 2010 and leaves driving and goes to another profession, the driving license will be canceled.

If drivers damage public or private property, fines range from 2,000 to 3,000 dinars and jail terms of one to three years. If the drivers are killed by the car, the fine will be at least 2000 and up to 5000 Kuwaiti dinars. Maybe two to five years in jail.
Where in some cases the penalty will be increased up to 750 percent. The Act has been passed by the Government's Law Department, Public Prosecution and the Higher Judicial Council.
