Officials said that at least six photos of Bangabandhu were removed from various offices of the Secretariat last Monday-Tuesday. There is no photograph of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the office of Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiya, Advisor to Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives in the Secretariat. Public Relations Officer Arif Billah said that the photograph of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has been removed from the office of Brigadier General (Retd.) M Sakhawat Hossain, Advisor to the Ministry of Shipping.
The new textile and jute and trade adviser to the interim government, businessman Sheikh Bashir Uddin, went to the secretariat on Monday after taking oath. Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was removed from his office before this adviser arrived.
An official said, after Bangabandhu's photo was taken down from the Durbar Hall of Bangabhavan, all the rooms in the Secretariat where Bangabandhu's photo was there have been removed.
He said, 'During the previous government, many offices of the state minister or deputy minister were lying vacant. Bangabandhu's pictures were hung in those rooms. After seeing Bangabandhu's picture in the Durbar Hall of Bangabhaban, there was a huge reaction in the government. After that, photos of Bangabandhu have been removed from various offices of the Secretariat.
