The President issued an ordinance amending the International Criminal Tribunal Act. Sahabuddin. The Department of Law and Parliamentary Affairs published the gazette notification of the ordinance on Sunday night.
According to the notification, this ordinance has been issued as the situation is satisfactory to the President in the absence of Parliament and the necessary steps to be taken.
Amendment of sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 11, 11 (a), 14 and 19 of the Act by the International Crimes (Tribunal) (Amendment) Ordinance; Substituted sections 12 and 17 and inserted sections 20(a), 21(a), 23(a) and 23(b).
Under the chairmanship of Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus, the final approval of the draft ordinance to amend the International Criminal Tribunal Act was given at the advisory council meeting on November 20.
Even if someone commits a crime against humanity abroad, the International Criminal Tribunal can take it into account.
On that day, Cabinet Secretary Sheikh Abdur Rashid said that the tribunal can keep audio and video records of the hearing if it wants. However, there will be no media coverage.
He said that crimes committed outside Bangladesh can be taken into account in the tribunal. Until now, the tribunal could only take into account the crimes committed inside Bangladesh.
