Matia Chowdhury's funeral completed Amar Bangla BANGLADESH


Personal Correspondent: The first funeral of Begum Matia Chowdhury, deputy leader of the National Assembly and former minister, has been completed.


The first Janaza was offered at around 10am on Thursday (October 17) near his residence at Ramana Apartment Complex.


Earlier, the ambulance carrying Motiar Chowdhury reached his residence Ramna Apartment Complex. His fans and relatives flocked there to say their last goodbyes. Then the funeral was done there. After this, the Awami League also paid tribute with flowers.


Matia Chowdhury's brother Masudul Islam Chowdhury said that a new place for burial in Mirpur Intellectual Cemetery has been requested from the City Corporation. If there is space, she will be buried there, if not, she will be buried in the grave of her husband Bazlur Rahman.


Matia Chowdhury was the Member of Parliament for Sherpur-2 (Nakla-Nalitabari) Constituency. Masudul also said that despite the demands of the people of his constituency, considering the current situation in the country, his body will not be taken there.


He died yesterday Wednesday (October 16) afternoon while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in the capital.
