The origin of mosquitoes has increased alarmingly across the country. For months, the life has become overwhelming. In the capital, it is possible to survive in some way during the day, but after dusk, it is the responsibility of the mosquito to stand out in the house. In this situation, public health is feared to increase the incidence of mosquito -borne diseases in the coming summer season. They warn that the situation could take a direction in the days ahead due to the dilution in the mosquito eradication of the government.
The local government department and health care department works on mosquito -borne diseases across the country. The local government department works to find the origin of the Aedes mosquito and cooperate with the Healthcare Department in AIDS mosquitoes and dengue surveys. On the other hand, the health care department conducts the work of patient identification, medical, awareness activities, AIDS and dengue surveys, genomic sequencing. There are many inconsistencies in the work of these two departments in charge of the government.
Concerned people say that due to lack of coordination between the two ministries responsible for the government, there is a shortage of steps to eradicate mosquitoes, disease and patient management. Yet the government has not been able to take any effective action in the elimination of Aedes.
The two city corporations of Dhaka have a budget of at least Tk 20 crore a year. Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Public Relations Officer Mokbul Hossain said today's newspaper, “In the fiscal year 2021-27, Tk 5 crore has been spent on mosquito. In the fiscal year 2021-27, the proposed budget has been increased to Tk 1 crore. Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) also spent much money on mosquito elimination.
The city's dwellers are not getting the benefit of such a huge expenditure of the two city corporations behind mosquitoes.
Earlier, local public representatives took care of the city's mosquito. After August 8, the responsibility came to an officer. There is a lot of nonsense in the field of poor monitoring among the field workers.
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) is in charge of a total of 5 general wards. Under them, the workers also work. Although this work was done directly directly, one of the general ward councilors in 5 wards. They were accompanied by five other reserved women councilors. In the DNCC area, these public representatives used to monitor the waste management work in addition to overseeing the activities of the mosquito. After the fall of the government on August 7, almost all of the councilors went into hiding. At present, an official cadre officer took care of the overall activities of some wards. After the administrative activities of this officer, there is not much opportunity to care for the mosquito activities. As a result, the small number of workers who work in the field, have also come out of the way.
There is no end to the outrage of the general public over the mosquito affairs of the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), which is in charge of another part of the capital. Anisur Rahman, a resident of Azimpur Officers Colony, said, “The mosquito has a huge origin for several days. In the last two months, I have never seen any mosquito worker splashing drugs in the colony. '
Retired government official Mohammad Azharul Haque, who lives in the New Eskaton area, also expressed some anger yesterday and said, “Despite the mosquito drainage, mosquito von von is not protected. After the start of Ramadan, when he got out of the mosquito and sat down to eat at night, it was a big setback. The group tied the mosquitoes around. '
However, the authorities are reluctant to accept their failure or limitations on the activities of the mosquito. Dr. DSCC's chief health officer is in charge. Nishat Parveen said, “We are regularly sprayed in our 4 wards. Our staff is working in 5 wards under the 5 regions of the entire DSCC. Each ward has 5,900 manpower. There are supervisors, health inspector and various levels of officers. But at the moment, mosquito origin has increased slightly in the lower areas of the city. We are working on them. '
People are now infected with the Aedes mosquito infectious virus all year long. Infection from the city to the marginalized areas is rapidly occurring. As a result, patients and public healthists have emphasized the management of activities throughout the year to eliminate Aedes mosquitoes throughout the year and prevent dengue infections.
Regarding dengue activities, the Department of Health has said that they implement dengue activities through strategic plans or operational plans (OPs). However, the OP has not been launched since July last July.
Director of the Department of Health (Disease Control) Dr. Farhad Hossain said, 'All the work is done from the survey to the OP money. Dengue activities are closed due to lack of OP at present. Survey is doing the work of the Institute of Pathology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR). If there is no OP, the Healthcare Department has been asked to submit a report by March 5 on how the activities will continue.
In January and February this year, a total of one and a half thousand dengue patients were identified in January and February this year, the Health Department said. According to the latest data on March 2, in January, 5,900 patients were identified. And 5 of them died. In February, 5 died against 5 people. In March, 5 people were attacked but no death.
All the work is done from the survey to the OP money. Dengue activities are closed due to lack of OP at present.

According to the latest ADS survey on December 5 last year, the Health Department said that the density of Dengue Aedes mosquito larvae in two wards of the two cities in the capital Dhaka is higher than the specific criteria. According to the results of 'Mansun AIDS Survey-2021', the Aedes mosquito larvae density is known as 'Bruto Index'. If the larver density is more than 20 percent in the recognized criterion, the situation is thought to be out of control. Of the 5 wards of the two cities in the capital, 5 wards are more than Bruto Index-20. This means that more than 20 containers of these areas have been found in more than 20 containers of mosquito larvae. These areas are at high risk of dengue.
Mainly due to the funding crisis, the health care department has stagnated dengue activities, several health department officials said. Department Line Director (Infectious Disease Control) Professor Dr. Md. Halimur Rashid said, 'IEDCR surveys. They have been collected for some money for this. They are now surveying the origin and breeding of Aedes mosquitoes, pre-monsoon. In the OP schedule, training, dengue identification pest distribution, some parts of the necessary drugs are provided. Everything is done from raising awareness to increase. Due to lack of OP, these work is not going on.
Head of the Department of Pestology of Medical Entomlogist and National Prevention and Social Medical Institute (Nipsum). Md. Ghulam Sarwar. “Dengue carrier has to be considered,” he said. Aedes mosquito life cycle is not limited to seasonal time. Their life cycle goes throughout the year. As a result, Aedes mosquitoes will have to work to eradicate throughout the year.
