Late night raid at Ghulam Dastgir's house, which DMP said

A raid was conducted at the residence of former textile and jute minister Golam Dastgir Gazi in Dhaka's Siddheshwari area. Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police (DB) said that on the basis of specific information, a late night search was conducted in the house to arrest the accused and recover illegal weapons.

DMP's Media and Public Relations Department Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Talebur Rahman gave this information in a press release sent to the media on Sunday (October 27) night.

DMP sent this notice to the media to inform the DB about the news published in Prothom Alo newspaper titled 'Dastgir's house was vandalized late at night, who took the goods'.

Later, the DB team left the spot after completing the house search operation with the help of the local police station. Based on specific information, this search operation was conducted as part of the arrest of the accused and the recovery of illegal weapons.

The circular also said that there is no room for confusion about the DB's search operation. DMP expects more objectivity and responsible role of concerned authorities in reporting any DB operation in future.

According to Prothom Alo's report, a group of people posing as members of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DB) entered the residence of former textile and jute minister Golam Dastgir Gazi in Siddheshwari of the capital late on Saturday (October 26). After breaking the lock of the gate, they entered the house and first vandalized the CCTV camera. Later, the furniture of the four rooms of the house was vandalized and destroyed. He also said that there are multiple murder cases against Golam Dastgir's wife Hasina Gazi. He provided money to the anti-discrimination student movement. Weapons in his custody were used against the students in the agitation. On these allegations, the DB raided his Siddheshwari's house late on Saturday night. But Hasina Ghazi was not found in that house. Search for him is going on in different places.
